The Best Family Photo Location | Pinehurst, NC

The best location for your family photos may not be quite what you expect. There are no views of the rolling Hill Country, no blue waves crashing, it’s not in a lush green forest or even a chic urban scene. There is no breathtaking view, not in the typical sense at least. The location i’m talking about, it’s your home, it’s your very own backyard! I know, I know……you’re thinking your house isn’t anything special. It doesn’t look like its straight out of a magazine, maybe it’s a little cluttered or messy from all of the living you do there but just hear me out. We get family photos for many different reasons but essentially, they are all the same, we just want to remember this beautiful, exhausting, chaotic, heavenly season of our lives. What better, more meaningful place to do that than the very four walls we live in. The backyard little ones run around in, the couch you all snuggle up on, the driveway where you play basketball or maybe do chalk art. Sometimes we are just so used to living in our homes that we forget to stop and look around. To really take it all in and be astounded at just how beautiful our homes are because they hold the most magical and precious thing of all, our love and our memories. Imagine looking back at your family photos 20 years from now. Are you going to look back and say “wow, look at that beautiful location we chose” Or will you be reminiscing, trying to recall all of your favorite memories from the good ol days. Now imagine looking back at artfully captured images of your family in your home. A photo of plump tiny feet covered in mud from a day of playing barefoot brings you right back to the day you took those photos and you remember so clearly. You remember all of the many days back then that you had tiny children tracking in muddy footprints and leaving heaps of dirty clothes in their wake for you to gather. Maybe it’s the one of them swinging carefree, wind in their hair that brings you back and through that photo you can remember so vividly every little detail as if you traveled back in time. These types of photos are so much more than pretty pictures, they are your ticket to going back in time for even just a moment. Lifestyle photography at home surely isn’t for everyone but I know it is for a lot of us. For those like me that have sentimental hearts and nostalgia running through our veins. Its for the people out there that know despite all of the challenges some days can bring, these are the good ol’ days.
